Myles Kaluzna is a Director in the Chicago office of Breakwater Forensics LLC. Myles specializes in assisting corporate clients and counsel with complex economic and financial analyses primarily related to the commercial damages and intellectual property practice areas. Myles has provided dispute resolution services for engagements involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, environmental damages, patent infringement, and legal malpractice, among other business disputes. He has also provided economic and financial consulting for attorneys and corporate clients.

Myles is a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. Myles has analyzed business issues, conducted complex financial analyses, and developed financial models involving investment performance, business valuations, discounted cash flows, lost sales, lost profits, incremental profits, fixed and variable costs, product line profitability, reasonable royalties, commercial success, and prejudgment and post-verdict interest. He has assisted clients in preparation for discovery, depositions, expert reports, mediation, arbitration, and trial.

Myles has worked with clients from small locally-owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies. His case experience encompasses a broad array of industries including, but not limited to, agricultural products, automotive, aviation, banking, biotechnology, cellular construction, consumer products, environmental, financial securities, information technology, life sciences, manufacturing, medical practices, medical products, oil and gas, packaging and shipping, pharmaceuticals, real estate, semiconductors, software, telecommunications, and vitamin supplements.

Myles has a strong passion for working with nonprofit organizations. He was a founding member of Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO) at the University of Illinois. SCNO provides pro-bono strategic consulting services for nonprofit organizations. Myles managed client projects in the areas of financial planning, operations management, marketing strategy, financial sustainability, accounting process improvement and systems implementation, and industry analysis.

Currently, Myles serves as treasurer on the Professional Board of Open Heart Magic, a Chicago-based children’s charity that provides bedside magic to children in hospitals. Additionally, Myles servers as treasurer on the Young Leadership Board of the Brain Research Foundation, a nonprofit which provides start-up funds for neuroscience research that leads to advanced understanding of brain function and treatments of neurological disorders.
